Frequently asked questions

Our Residential weekends are suitable for any age. We have a mixture of ages attend, from babies right up to 14 year olds. Some of the activities have an age limit but here is lots to do suitable for the whole family. The joy of the weekend is surrounding yourselves with Vegan Families and the children and adults mixing and having fun, making friends and trying out new things.

Please note all children must be accompanied by an adult.

No. Children must be accompanied by at least 1 adult.

Our residentials are a family experience and the feedback we received from parents is that they love seeing their kids experience these activities and love to join in too.

The adult that accompanies the child does not need to be the parent or guardian, for example a group of friends could be accompanied by 1 adult.

The adult who comes with the children needs to be responsible for them for the whole trip.

There may be gift shops at some of our excursions, so you may wish to give your child some pocket money for the trip. We will provide details on each excursion.

You will be allocated a private bedroom for your family group.

showers and toilets are shared facilities.

Yes. Please Let us know your requirements or special diet type and we will work with you to ensure your child is catered for. Alternatively, if you would like to provide food for your child we can accept that and prepare it for your child.

All specialist equipment is provided on the activities.

We will send out a recommended kit list prior to the trip, to make sure you don’t leave anything behind!

You will need to bring your own bedding or hire this from us.

Yes you will need to bring your own sheets, duvet and pillow + case.

bedding sets can be hired for £5pp

you willalso need to bring your own towel.

Feedback from past trips showed us the adults had as much fun as the kids! So everyone is welcome to get involved.

If you decide not to join in an activity, you are very welcome to explore the area yourselves.

the site has many free activities to take part in:

  • An 8 piece outdoor gym with lovely views

  • Private woodland area (with horseshoe path) with orienteering course and campfire area

  • Picnic benches (some wheelchair friendly) and patio area

  • Outdoor cabin with table tennis and seating and viewing area at the back

  • Gardens area with shallow ponds and benches to take in the surroundings..

  • Walks on our doorstep

Part of the beauty of our trips is that they are in out in nature and the wilderness. We know that for families without a car it does make it difficult to access.

We are more than happy to collect people arriving at the nearest train station which is Burnley.

Flat ground surface into the entrance side of the building and also into the conservatory

The conservatory has a wheelchair friendly bathroom

The outside cabin has a small lip but no problem for wheelchairs

We have a lift to the 1st floor (although we do advise if there is a wheelchair user to use a downstairs bedroom wherever possible)

We have 2 downstairs bedrooms, one with an adjoining wetroom which has a wheelchair-friendly sink

Spacious lounge to move around

There are 2 picnic benches outside designed for wheelchair users

We have a wheelchair friendly path that runs through to the woods

Testimonials

We had a great weekend. We really liked that we were the only group at the venue, the children had free rein of the place and enjoyed the freedom of this. Dana kept the children entertained in the evenings with games and the escape room challenge. Parents all mucked in and it was great for the adults to chat to like-minded parents. My daughter particularly enjoyed the last evening and sharing the top dorm with all the girls and chatting late into the night!

I liked the swimming and the activities were really fun. I liked meeting the other people. Its extremely fun, and a good get away.

I loved meeting other vegans just like me. I had the best weekend, it was so fun. I got to try things and do things I didn’t know I could do. It was so fun being in the dorm room with the other kids. The walk was really good too and I loved chanting “Vegan Kids” on the way home. Even though we got really wet when it rained on the last day that was still fun! My favourite activity was the ropes course. I can’t wait for the next one!

Thank you SO MUCH for all the effort you guys put into creating such a lovely weekend. Truly grateful we got to experience it and I got to share that with him. All down to your hard work. Super, super appreciated.

I just wanted to share with you all a lovely weekend my family have just had, organised by Vegan Kids. We went on a residential in the beautiful area of Brecon, Wales. Some of the older children went rock climbing and other outdoor activities, we have a 5 year old and a baby so mostly explored the local area. Knowing all the food in our accommodation was vegan and spending time with other vegan families was a blessing for my son. On the first morning he went round asking everyone, “Are you vegan?” and got more and more excited with every ‘yes’! The absolute highlight was the ‘The 4 Waterfalls’; a real challenge for us walking wise (my husband did so well with baby in carrier the whole time!), but so so worth it.

Thank you sincerely, for the most wonderful weekend away. We are so lucky to be able to benefit from your vision to create an inclusive, safe and fun space for vegan children. We had the most fantastic time making memories and forging friendships. We are already looking forward to the next one!
