Our 2022 Residential
Our residential took us to the Breacon Beacons, a beautiful region in Wales.
As with all our residentials, we took over an activity centre for the weekend.
It’s important for us to have a completely vegan space for our breaks as it’s our chance to be in a little vegan world and sharing the space with other groups doesn’t work for what we want to achieve.
Friday night is arrival night as everyone gets settled in, and we have our first meal together after getting a tour of the building.
The food is also an important part of the break. During our big meet-ups we get to eat together, and sometimes it can be the first time a vegan child has eaten with an entire room of vegans. It’s quite a special moment, to be out with such a big group, and know that everyone is consuming plants not parts!
The first evening is filled with excitement and aprehension and often it’s a good chance to get a good first nights sleep to prepare for the rest of the trip!
Sunday was an exploring day, on a group excursion starting with the Brecon Mountain Railway – a fun railway trip up a mountain and back.
This was followed by a more challenging trip, to the 4 waterfalls walk. Not for the faint hearted.
But it was highly rewarding, if not super exhausting for those who managed to complete all 4 waterfalls.
I was very impressed at how far some of the little legs managed to get. We certainly love to do push our limits and achieve things that make us proud!
The last day was a trip to the Big Pit coal mine, where we travelled underneath the ground into heart of the coal mine.
It was a great trip all round and lots of fun.
Make sure you check out our up-coming residential where you can join in the fun on our latest family break!
Up not too early for our first day of adventure and breakfast is served from 8am. It’s a help-yourself breakfast buffet to get our bellies full for a full day of activities.
And we’re off! The first group of older children went off to take part in a mountain climbing activity! While the younger ones got a more chilled out morning surrounded by the beauty of the area they could explore.
After a picnic lunch, we were off for our river canyoning, which was unexpectedly cold but very rewarding! We got to float down river rapids, climb into caves and jump into the river from the river bank, which was all quite exilarating and certainly a new experience for most of us.
We love to create memories through our activities and really push people to try new things outside of their comfort zone.
After a thrilling day, we were back to the centre for dinner and by now the kids had made friends and were chatting playing into the evening, which gave the parents time to catch up and chat.
