This week in the news there was an article about Vegan Children growing up short.
It made headlines suggesting that “trendy” vegans are putting their children at risk.
Looking at the actual study it is not quite the same headline grabbing story.
It’s worth pointing out this is just one study that did have it’s own limitations and had fairly low numbers.
But it did show up some interesting things that perhaps we need to watch out for that B12 is needed as a supplement for Vegan kids and fortification alone did not seem to change the status, however those supplementing with B12 did have optimal levels!
In other good news it showed that Vegan children are much less likely to have high bad cholesterol levels.
